Welcome to Ilm. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and safeguard your information when you use our app. We comply with applicable data protection laws, and depending on where you are located, different or additional laws may apply to you.
We have designated a contact who is responsible for privacy compliance and for handling data-related inquiries. You can reach us at [email protected].
You can use Ilm's core features, including asking questions in the AI chat, anonymously as a guest, without creating an account or providing an email address. As a guest you are represented only by an anonymous identifier, and we do not create a personal profile for you. Creating an account lets you subscribe to a paid plan, save your conversations so you can return to them, personalize your experience, and receive certain notifications.
The anonymous analytics and diagnostics described below are collected from all users, including guests, on a non-identifying basis. Account and profile information, saved conversations, and your email address apply only once you create an account.
We collect the following categories of information:
Account and profile information (only if you create an account):
Information collected from all users, including guests (on a non-identifying basis):
AI conversation content:
Some of this information constitutes "personal information" as it relates to an identifiable individual. Because the AI chat lets you type freely, your messages may sometimes include sensitive information (for example, references to religious beliefs or health). Please see "AI Chat and Conversation Content" below for how we handle this.
The information we collect is used for the following specific, explicitly defined and legitimate purposes:
We process your personal information based on the following lawful bases:
Where your AI chat messages include sensitive information (such as references to religious beliefs or health), we rely on your consent, given by your choice to include that information in your message, as the basis for processing it to answer your question (see "AI Chat and Conversation Content" below).
We do not sell your personal information. We do share information with third-party service providers ("operators" or "processors") who process data on our behalf in order to provide and improve the app. These providers are only permitted to use the information to provide their services to us. They perform functions such as:
Other than our advertising partner described below, we share personal information only with service providers who are contractually required (under data processing agreements) to safeguard it to a standard at least equal to that described in this Privacy Policy, and to use it solely to provide their services to us. Our advertising partner may also use certain data for its own measurement and product-improvement purposes; we only enable this where you have consented, including, on Apple devices, through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt (see "Advertising and Tracking" below).
You may contact us at [email protected] if you would like more information about the specific service providers we use.
We may also disclose information where required to do so by law, or where we have a good-faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with legal process, enforce our terms, prevent fraud or security issues, or protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.
We use a third-party advertising provider's software development kit (SDK) to measure the performance of advertising campaigns (for example, to understand whether an app install or subscription resulted from one of our ads). This may involve linking certain app activity or device information with that provider for advertising attribution purposes.
On Apple devices, before any such tracking takes place, we will ask for your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you do not grant permission, we will not use the advertising identifier or share attribution data for tracking purposes. You can change your choice at any time in your device settings. Our analytics and error-reporting tools are used to operate and improve the app and are not used to track you across other companies' apps and websites for advertising.
When you use the app's AI chat feature, the messages in your conversation are sent to a third-party AI (large language model) provider that generates responses on our behalf. We share only what is needed to answer your question — the content of the conversation itself — and we deliberately keep it separate from your identity: your name, email address, and account details are not provided to this provider, so it cannot identify who you are.
This provider is contractually required (under a data processing agreement) to safeguard your information, to use it only to provide the AI service to us, and not to use your conversations to train its own models. It may process this data in other countries (see "Cross-Border Transfers" below).
Because you can type freely in the AI chat, your messages may occasionally include sensitive information (for example, references to religious beliefs or health). By choosing to include such information, you consent to it being processed as described here to answer your question. For personal religious, legal, medical, or other sensitive matters, you should consult a qualified professional or scholar.
Ilm is available to users in multiple countries, and our service providers operate in various locations, including the United States. This means your personal information may be transferred to, processed, and stored in countries other than the one in which you live.
Where we transfer personal information across borders, we do so in accordance with applicable data protection laws, and we take reasonable steps to ensure that the recipient is subject to laws, binding agreements, or rules that provide an adequate level of protection. By using the app, you acknowledge that your information will be processed in these locations.
Ilm uses software development kits (SDKs) and similar technologies from the service providers listed above for analytics, experimentation, error reporting, advertising attribution, and security, as described in this policy.
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information:
If you have created an account, you may request deletion of your account and all stored information relating to your account — including your profile and your saved AI conversations — directly from your profile within the app. Upon such request, we will delete your personal data from our systems, excluding any information we are required to retain by law. If you use the app as a guest, no profile is created and your conversations are not saved; if you sign out, your anonymous guest session and any data associated with it are lost and cannot be recovered.
We retain your information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy or as required by law.
Age restrictions for Ilm are defined by the app store policies in your region. Please comply with the age requirements specified by the app store in your location.
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights in relation to your personal information:
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. Depending on your location, additional rights may be available to you under applicable data protection laws.
If you believe we have not adequately addressed your privacy concerns, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your jurisdiction.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
